THERE ARE over 1,000 AFGHAN FEMALE JOURNALISTS IN THE COUNTRY, YET THEIR VOICES ARE MISSING FROM FOREIGN NEWS ORGANISATIONS.
Despite promises from the Afghan government, women remain largely absent from peace talks with the Taliban, meaning their needs and voices are not represented.
Help us get their voice heard.
Billions of U.S. dollars have been spent on programmes designed to empower Afghan women, yet the impact of these has been notoriously difficult to assess. Violence against women remains endemic.
How you can help
- $25 transports one Sahar Speaks participant to training
- $50 pays for a safe space in Kabul to train female journalists for a day
- $100 pays for an Afghan female journalist/photographer to work for a day for a major news outlet
- $500 goes towards a much-needed stipend for a Sahar Speaks participant
